Why is Susan a popular white American name?

Long time ago it was Becky. I am only curious and not being rude or whatever. Where did the name Becky and Susan come from and why is it or was so popular?

Why is Susan a popular white American name?
I have no idea, but it's an ugly name.
Reply:Susan is not a popular name anymore, where did you get your information? Becky is a form of Rebecca, which comes from the Bible. I don't hear either one of those names much anymore. Nowadays people want to name their kids unusual or different sounding names.
Reply:because it is boring and plain. But hey! my name is Becca and I'm black, there are lots of Mexican girls named Rebecca--Susan is very white though, My white aunt's name is Susan--- and she's lily white.
Reply:those arent popular anymore,
