Why is Delilah becoming a popular girls name?

Yes, it's a pretty name, but the it's still associated in many people's minds with the traitorous whore who helped to do in Samson in the Bible. I wouldn't want that to be the first thought in people's minds when I introduced my daughter.

Reply:It wouldn't be the first thing on most people's mind. I love the name Delilah - and that has never once crossed my mind. There's a host of people who wouldn't think past the Pointer Sisters.





I wouldn't name a kid Samson, though.

Reply:The name actually means (one who uprooted or impoverished), I don't think it would be my choice, but not for biblical reason (since I'm a Pagan) simply because of the meaning.

People who actually think of the Samson-Delilah fairytale when they hear the name aren't people who I'd want to know.
