How is it that a truffle came to be known as a type of fungi and at the same time it's the name of a popular
The first chocolates, named truffle, where rather soft melting pralinees, covered with cocoa powder. They look a bit like the mushrooms and got therefore the name.

Reply:The confection was called that because in shape they resemble a truffle, the fungus.
Reply:The fungi was discovered and named long before it became a candy and/or dessert. Wild pigs found them.
