Why is the old-fashioned baby girl name that I love all of a sudden the 65th most popular name for girls?

It's Evelyn by the way. It makes me not want to name a girl (Lord willing) Evelyn someday.

Why is the old-fashioned baby girl name that I love all of a sudden the 65th most popular name for girls?
at least you're not naming a girl madison. if i see one more madison i'll scream. oh, or aidan. i'm tired of aidan too. i've seen it on boys and girls. WE GET IT ALREADY!!! jeez. 65th on the list isn't that bad. you don't run into a lot of evelyn's these days. plus, i like that it is versatile. the child can got by eve or lyn or elyn (pronounced ellen) or if she's trouble...evel!!!

Reply:IDK. I really dont like that name. Sorry. Sounds like a Grandmothers name or something.
Reply:Old fashioned names are coming back!
Reply:I would have chosen Mary and not Evelyn, and would not use neither name for my baby girl
Reply:Who cares if the name is popular or not? Do you want her to be just one of a sea of Evelyns? If you like the name, use it! Maybe you'll revive it!
Reply:I personally love that name and I've always planned on naming my daughter (if I ever had one) Evelyn, but yea it's becoming a little too common for me.
Reply:I have wanted to name my daughter Ava for years and now it's becoming extremely popular. I think that you should name your baby whatever you want though. It can't be as bad as my name's popularity!
Reply:thats the trend now, to name your baby girl something old fashioned and to name your baby boy aiden or caden or braiden or something else that rhymes. I named mine Victor. both my doctor and his doctor said it was the only child they knew named Victor, but everyone seems to like it, but if people start naming their boys Victor now I'm going to be super pissed.
Reply:There are soo many people in this world, that I bet at some point or another every name that is not popular when you pick it out....will be at some point! Thats just the way the world works...Tahts a very pretty name though!
Reply:if its the 65 most popular then shes going to be unique, instead of emily, theres about 3 in every class at my school, class sizes are down to 29,
Reply:I have noticed that, too.

Old fashioned names that I adore seem to just pop up higher and higher on the list.

:(

Mine was Eliza. Now I hear that name everywhere :(
Reply:evelyn sounds like a grandma's name
Reply:My names are not making a comeback...they're even more old fashioned than Evelyn
Reply:i wish that the comback of old fashioned names would come back. i can't tell you how much i hate the made-up sounding "alternative" names. boo. all these stupid names like kighlan and kreegan are getting on my nerves!
Reply:How about Elizabeth it is a very popular and old fashioned name.
Reply:65th really isn't all that popular. I don't know any children or even adults named Evelyn right now. It's a pretty name, though.
Reply:Welcome to life

If you love Evelyn, that go for it, and do not worry

You can check how popular it is in your state

65th is not that bad, it could be a regional name

I would go with the name I love

Evelyn is pretty
Reply:It's becoming more popular because people are seeking more unusual names and looking to older names. I'd personally rather see that than another generation of kids named Star, Destiny and Princess (I really know kids with all of those names). I wouldn't worry too much about it being the 65th most popular name. That's still way down the list. I looked and my first name (which is a little old fashioned) wasn't in the top 20 for the 60's, 70's or 80's and only became popular in the last decade or so. (No I'm not giving it out.) Personally, I love my first name because it's a little old fashioned and timeless so I think if you name one of your kids Evelyn someday they might feel the same way. I think it's a very pretty name so don't give up on using it.
Reply:I love the old fashion names!!!!!!!
Reply:Well, old-fashioned names are coming back. What if I told you the name I loved most since I was 13 is the 2nd most popular name for girls? That didn't stop me from naming my daughter Emma.

Evelyn may be high up on the list, but I've yet to meet a little Evelyn.
Reply:Hunny...I feel your pain, names that I have LOVED since my childhood are suddenly 'in' names and it drives me batty but, I love them and they sound great with my name and I'll be damned if I'm going to let those who jump on the fad train ruin my happiness lol.
Reply:Old fashion is back. The styles come in, go out and years later they come back again. Best of luck to you.
