What is the most popular place name in the world?

I've heard it's Aberdeen as that has 34 places around the world but it seems a bit strange that it's not Victoria or something like that.

Reply:I am often asked for the place name that occurs in each of the fifty states. Fortunately, it would appear that such an un-original toponym (place name) does not exist.


Recreational linguist Dan Tilque did researched this topic, which was published in Word Ways in 2001. He utilized the US Geologic Survey's Geographic Names Information Service to discover that while Springfield is commonly thought of as the most prolific place name, the place name of Riverside can be found in all but four states (it does not exist in Hawaii, Alaska, Louisiana, and Oklahoma).





The runner up was Centerville in 45 states, followed by Fairview (43 states), Franklin (42), Midway (40), Fairfield (39), Pleasant Valley (39), Troy (39), Liberty (38), and Union (38).
Reply:There really is none, internationally. In AMerica there are some, in spain there are some, and in other countries there are similarly names places, but interbationaly there isnt one name that stands out across the board.
